A judge sentenced a young Brownsville woman to 10 years in prison for a fatal DWI wreck back in May 2011.

Crissy Guerra appeared before Judge Elia Cornejo-Lopez in the 404th State District Court on Friday morning.

Judge Cornejo-Lopez sentenced to 10 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter.

The now-21-year-old woman pleaded guilty in June to drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel right before the fatal accident.

Guerra wrecked minutes after leaving Brownsville TMs UpSide Down Sports bar killing 20-year-old friend Roxanna Sais and injuring another passenger.

Defense attorney Doug Pettit told Action 4 News that Guerra was both horrified and very remorseful about the death of her friend.

Pettit said he plans to file a motion for shock probation in a few months time in hopes that the young woman TMs sentenced can be commuted from prison to probation.
