Dry conditions and no rain has forced the Cameron county's emergency management coordinator to once again extend a burn ban in the county for another two weeks.
Emergency Management Coordinator Johnny Cavazos tells Action 4 News., that burn bans prohibit the burning of trash or brush until at least august 10TH 2009.
The Cameron County Fire Marshal service will also not be issuing burn permits during this time. Parts of Texas, including the Valley, have been designated as being a in severe drought.
Those caught violating the burn ban will face a $500 fine and penalties increase, if damage to property is done by those fires.
"We don't want any burning going on for any reason out in the county. It's to dry and the weather condition is too windy and it's too dangerous," said Cavazos.
