Cameron County residents seek refuge in shelters

Many Cameron County residents decided to ride out the heavy rains and winds from Hurricane Alex in area shelters.
In Harlingen, those seeking a safe place to stay made their way to Harlingen High School South.
Action 4 News found entire families looking for refuge.
The shelter has a capacity to hold a total of 500 people.
The same scenario could be seen in Brownsville where about 800 people showed up at Porter High School for their safety.
Those inside the shelter said they will be keeping a close eye on Hurricane Alex.
They're hoping that when the rain finally stops they'll still have a place to call home.
