Candlelight vigil planned for teen found dead on UTPA campus

Brenda Dominguez's body was found outside the UTPA Science Building early Monday morning

The skies are grey and rain is falling from the skies but UTPA students are planning to hold candlelight vigil for a teenage girl found dead on their campus.

Based on preliminary autopsy results, authorities believe 18-year-old Brenda Dominguez died in an apparent suicide.

Construction workers found the Edinburg North High School student TMs body outside the UTPA Science Building early Monday morning.

The building was reopened for students and staff on Wednesday.

The candlelight vigil for Dominguez is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Student Union Commons.

Funeral arrangements for Dominguez have not been made public.

Both UTPA and Edinburg North High School have made grievance counselors available for students and staff.

A Facebook fan page named "RIP Brenda Dominguez" has already received closed to 1,000 fans as of Wednesday afternoon.
