Car crash kills San Benito veteran

A San Benito veteran is dead after an early morning crash.

The Department of Public Safety said 23-year-old Angel Gaytan rear-ended a tractor at about 4:00 a.m. Sunday.

Gaytan's family told Action 4 News Gaytan was at a friend's house and was just minutes from home when he crashed near FM 2520, south of FM 800 outside San Benito.

The tractor driver was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Gaytan graduated from San Benito High School in 2004 and served in the U.S. Army.
