Car crashes into gas pipe in Santa Rosa

A high speed chase in Santa Rosa led to an accident that ruptured a gas pipe.

There were three men all together inside the small gray car. According to police, a DPS trooper was chasing the car, when the car lost control on the corner of 107 and Third Street.

The car first hit the gas pipe, and dragged it underneath.

The car then rammed into an abandoned home.

We had to call 9-1-1 because there was only one cop on duty, one neighbor said. We also had to call 9-1-1 because of the gas leak. No one was hurt, but all three suspects fled on foot. Two of the suspects tried to hide under a house, but neighbors caught the men and held them for police to come and arrest them.

Officers later caught the third man. Immediately following the accident, both the car and the gas pipe were still running, making it a big hazard to neighbors and residents in the area.

Authorities told Action 4 News that they could not turn off the car until the gas company came to shut off the gas first.

All three men are in the custody of Santa Rosa police.

We will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
