Cartel violence has Mexican nationals moving to Valley

Recent drug cartel violence in Reynosa, Matamoros and other border communities is causing a spike in home sales in the Rio Grande Valley.

More and more Mexican nationals are buying properties in Brownsville, McAllen and other communities.

Action 4 news spoke to Juan Carlos Alvarado with Altre Insurance in Brownsville.

Alvarado said they've seen a big increase of Mexican citizens buying homes in Brownsville.

He said they are trying to escape the cruel reality of violence occurring on their side of the border.
