Authorities are investigating an incident where a Customs & Border Protection (CBP) helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Roma.
The CBP helicopter landed safely in a vacant lot off North Athens and East La Frauga Streets early Tuesday afternoon.
According to CBP Air and Marine officials, the pilot landed the helicopter safely and there were no injuries.
CBP Air and Marine officials confirmed that the helicopter sustained damage by something striking the main rotor blade.
According to initial reports, the helicopter was allegedly damaged by a rock thrown by somebody on the Mexican side of the border but those reports have not been confirmed.
The incident remains under investigation.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials told Action 4 News that they will be following up with CBP about the incident.
