Charges likely for driver in deadly crash

An alleged drunk driver who crashed in Brownsville and killed his passenger is expected to survive.

Jaime Garibay slammed his car into a utility pole over the weekend, killing Claudia Zepeda.

Brownsville police said Monday that Garibay was driving under the influence when he caused the wreck near Paredes Line Road and Heritage Road.

Zepeda died on impact.

Garibay remains in the hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities said Garibay will likely be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
