One of the longest standing traditions in the Rio Grande Valley is in full swing in Brownsville.
The city kicked off its 72nd Annual Charro Days Fiesta.
Executive director Michael Puckett gave the official grito on Monday, kicking off the 10-day celebration.
Charro Days is a celebration of friendship and cultural history, rich in colorful entertainment and delicious food.
"It's an economic boom for the city of Brownsville," said Puckett. "For one week, the hotels are full, the vendors and the school groups sell food along the parade route and everything like that."
Charro Days runs through the end of February.
