A 3-year-old was killed in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon in Alamo.
The child was traveling in a Silverado with his family of five on the 100 block of Expressway 83.
Police believe the driver of the Silverado was distracted, lost control and struck two cars that were parked on the westbound emergency lane.
Two people were outside the parked cars changing a tire when the accident happened.
The 3-year-old was not in a car seat or wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his family's vehicle, according to police.
The child TMs mother had to be airlifted to Valley Baptist Medical Center. Her condition remains unknown at this time.
One of the people changing the tire sustained serious injuries and is listed in critical, but stable condition. The other suffered minor injuries.
Law enforcement officials advise that car passengers be buckled up safely at all times.
The family of the 3-year-old is from Progreso.
