Child rescued from hot car outside Weslaco WalMart

Authorities are investigating an incident where a boy was rescued after being locked inside a hot car in Weslaco.

It all happened in the parking lot of the WalMart Supercenter off North Texas Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that authorities received a report about a child being locked inside a car parked outside the store.

According to reports, the boy was reportedly "dripping in sweat."

According to the forecast, temperatures were expected to climb to 100 degrees in Hidalgo County.

Firefighters got the child out of the car while police are reportedly interviewing the boy's parents.

It's not clear why the child was inside the car alone but Action 4 News will provide more details as they become available.
