Coast Guard rescues six after boat runs aground near Port Aransas

A Coast Guard rescue crew saved six people after their boat ran hard aground on the Port Aransas Jetties.

The boat, the Barracuda, went aground around 4:55 a.m. on Saturday.

Barracuda TMs captain contacted Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders that this had happened along the south jetty.

A station response boat picked up the six passengers less than thirty minutes later.

They were all transferred to emergency medical services.

"The pleasure craft Barracuda remains aground on the south jetty rocks," said Petty Officer 3rd class Ben Scudder, a member of the RBM rescue crew. "Emergency medical services have assessed all the

individuals that were on the boat, and they are ok."

Coast Guard pollution responders have been dispatched to respond to any potential fuel spill.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
