The identity has been released for the man who died after falling from a Marriot Hotel construction site lift in Harlingen.
Harlingen police said 35-year-old Juan Carlos Reyes was on a platform holding supplies that were being lifted to the fourth floor.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday as the man was working at the site on 109 Bass Pro Drive.
The Brownsville man was trying to put red and black wire spools inside the fourth floor when the platform became unstable.
Harlingen police, Harlingen Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene, where the 35-year-old was unresponsive and not breathing.
Justice of the Peace Eloy Cano pronounced Reyes dead at the scene.
Police tell Action 4 News that the construction worker was not wearing a safety harness at the time of the incident.
An autopsy has been ordered.
The case remains under investigation.
