Convicted South Padre Island official out of jail

A turn of events for a South Padre Island Official, convicted of negligent homicide in the death of a motorcyclist.

A state district judge granted a motion for reconsideration on Darla Lapeyre's sentence of six months in jail and five years probation.

Only after about a month in jail, the South Padre Island Economic Development Corporation director was released.

She was convicted for killing 63- year-old Jimmie Anklam in a crash on the island back in 2011.
