      Cops: Shoplifting dad ditches daughters when busted

      A Brownsville man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly left his daughters behind when store security officers stopped him for shoplifting.

      Brownsville police arrested 38-year-old Jorge Alberto Andrade-Hernandez on multiple criminal charges on Monday afternoon.

      Investigators told Action 4 News that Andrade-Hernandez went to a large store off the 3500 block of West Alton Gloor Boulevard with his 14- and 16-year-old daughters back on Tuesday, January 14th.

      Store security officials stopped Andrade-Hernandez for shoplifting but he took off running, got in his car and drove away leaving his two daughters behind.

      The girl's mother arrived at the store to pick them up and spoke with police.

      Officers searched the couple's home but was not able to find Andrade-Hernandez at that time.

      Investigators told Action 4 News that police were able to locate him on Monday and arrested him on a theft charge and two counts of child abandonment.
