Cucumber measured as evidence in Harlingen rape case

      A man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing a woman with a cucumber and demanding she perform explicit acts.

      Cameron County Sheriff TMs investigators arrested Jesus Guadalupe Escobedo on a sexual assault charge.

      The woman came forward with the allegations in June, according to court documents obtained by Action 4 News.

      She told authorities Escobedo demanded she perform explicit acts, and when she said no, he allegedly threatened to make a child perform them if she would not.

      Escobedo then allegedly pinned her to the floor where he sexually assaulted her.

      The woman told authorities that she was watching a religious program during one instance of the alleged sexual assault.

      According to court documents, she stated that Escobedo sexually assaulted her various times.

      As evidence in the alleged crime, a cucumber was measured and medical forensic records were obtained.

      Escobedo allegedly admitted to authorities that he was watching pornography before the sexually assault happened.

      Action 4 News does not release the identify of sexually abused victims, but court records show the woman knew Esobedo prior to the alleged crime.

      His bond was set at $150,000 for the second degree felony.
