A man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly stole a pony and tried to sell it on Craigslist.
Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Office deputies arrested Alejandro Salvador Hernandez on a theft of livestock charge on Thursday afternoon.
According to court documents obtained by Action 4 News, the investigation started when the owner saw his stolen pony being sold on-line.
Deputies met with the owner at his South Tower Road in Alamo and were allegedly able to track down Hernandez through the ad.
The 22-year-old suspect allegedly admitted to investigators that he stole the brown and white male pony.
Deputies charged Hernandez with theft of livestock, a third-degree felony punishable from two to 10 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
Hernandez appeared before Hidaglo County Justice of the Peace Ismael Melo Ochoa where he was issued a $20,000 bond.
