Pharr police are investigating a fatal accident that took place near Veterans Boulevard and Nolana Avenue just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Action 4 News crews arrived at the scene to discover a damaged Hidalgo County Precinct 2 constable unit and a red Honda Civic.
Investigators with the Pharr Police Department were reconstructing the scene of the accident.
Police said the fatal wreck happened on the 3900 block of North Veterans Boulevard.
Officers said the deputy constable was traveling north and escorting a funeral when he hit a red Honda Civic.
Police said the Honda Civic was going south on Veterans Boulevard and trying to make a left turn onto an apartment complex when the patrol unit T-boned the car.
The deputy constable as well as the driver and passenger of the Honda Civic were all rushed to local hospitals.
Police said the passenger of Honda Civic, a woman in her 40s, died at the hopsital.
Authorities had not released the woman's name as of Wednesday evening.
An Action 4 News viewer commented on this story when we first reported it.
"I saw when it happened," the viewer wrote. "I was at my mom's house watching the funeral people pass and I saw the deputy drive off really fast after the last car passed."
Police said they are still investigating the accident and they'll release more information as it becomes available.
