Detonator, white powder found after La Feria bomb threats

Authorities are investigating a series of bomb threats that ended with them finding a detonator with white power in downtown La Feria.

La Feria police said that they received a series of bomb threats to different places around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the Judge Arturo Salas Cameron County Annex was among the places mentioned in the threats.

Authorities called in the Brownsville Police Department bomb squad.

La Feria Police Chief Donato Garcia told Action 4 News that caller told them he was watching police search for the bomb.

Investigators ultimately found a device with a detonator and white powder outside the La Feria Bakery off Main Street and Business 83.

It's not clear who left the device, made the call or what the powder could be but it has been sent for testing.

Cameron County officials report that the annex building was checked again on Tuesday morning and is open for normal business hours.
