A San Benito mother is behind bars after she allegedly shoved and pulled the hair of her 12-year-old daughter who left home without permission.
Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested 31-year-old Roxanne Vasquez on an injury to a child charge early Tuesday morning.
Court records released Thursday show that the incident happened off County Road 882 in the rural community of Lago just outside San Benito city limits.
Deputies were called to a home there after Vasquez allegedly confronted her daughter, shoved her and pulled her by the hair in the front yard of the home.
Vasquez allegedly told deputies that she "shoved around" her daughter because the girl left home without permission and went to her boyfriend's house.
The records show that Vasquez appeared intoxicated at the time.
Vasquez appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Luis Saenz on Tuesday morning where she was issued a $5,000 dollar bond.
The San Benito mother remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
Court records show that Vasquez has a criminal history that includes escape, DWI, failure to ID and other charges going back to 2002.
