Doctor with similar name being mistaken for McAllen physician accused of fraud
Dr. Mario Quesada is trying to set the record straight and let people know that he's not the doctor being investigated by the FBI for health care fraud.
For years, Dr. Quesada has been an orthopedic surgeon in Cameron County.
Dr. Quesada says he normally sees 35 to 40 patients a day, but that changed drastically this week.
"We only saw 15 or 16 patients at the most," Quesada said. "That was the indication that— I heard about it Monday, but then all of a sudden Tuesday comes around and nobody shows up in my office. I have five phone calls from patients saying, ‘We're not coming, we're cancelling’ or ‘Is this the same Dr. Quezada or not?’ I’m not a rheumatologist. I treat patients with surgery. I do joint replacements and my name is spelled with an ‘S’ and not with a ‘Z’.”
Quesada encourages all of his patients to reach out to him if they have any concerns at 956-544-2663.
