Donna manhunt ends without arrest

Law enforcement officials came up empty-handed in an early Monday morning manhunt in Donna.

An armed robbery suspect got away after leading police on a chase where he allegedly shot at officers.

Police told Action 4 News that the suspect robbed a Stripes convenience store off FM 1015 and Sugar Cane Drive in Weslaco shortly around 5:30 a.m. Monday.

The armed robbery suspect got away with a small amount of money.

Investigators said the female store clerk was not injured in the armed robbery but the suspect led police on a wild chase.

The armed suspect allegedly fired at officers several times, before stopping off U.S. Expressway 83 and Salinas Road in Donna around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Police and Border Patrol agents were seen surrounding the suspect's green pickup truck parked off the eastbound lanes of the expressway.

The green pickup truck was parked going the wrong way on the shoulder of the frontage road.

Police told Action 4 News that the suspect bailed out of the truck and took off running around Salinas Road.

The male suspect was wearing a tight-fitting black shirt, blue jeans, a cap and a bandanna over his face.

He is wanted for aggravated robbery and attempted capital murder.

The suspect managed to elude law enforcement officials.
