Dozens of parents from Donna spent late Friday night at local hospitals after a school bus carrying their children was involved in an accident in Kenedy County.
It all happened Friday evening when a school bus carrying students from Salinas Elementary School had a tire blow out on Highway 77 just north of the Willacy County line.
The blow out caused an accident, and the children were transported to Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco and the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Concerned parent Haram Salas spoke with Action 4 News outside the Knapp Medical Center.
Salas said the children had gone on a field trip to Corpus Christi.
He and other parents were waiting to pick up their children at school when administrators had all the parents meet in the library.
The administrators told the parents about the accident, and that the children were being taken to Knapp Medical Center and Valley Baptist Medical Center.
The parents were individually told which hospital their children were taken to, and then they all went their separate ways.
Salas told Action 4 News that his 8-year-old son Haram Salas, Jr. was taken to Knapp Medical Center where he appeared to be fine.
Action 4 News will post more information as it becomes available.
