Authorities are investigating a bizarre incident in Hidalgo County.
Deputies said an ambulance was rammed several times by the driver of a grey Impala on Sugar and Trenton in Edinburg just after 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
Action 4 News was on the scene as it happened.
Paramedics told Action 4 News they picked up a patient in Hargill and an unidentified male demanded to get inside the back of the ambulance, but was not allowed.
Authorities said that is when the suspect jumped into a grey Impala and began driving erratically trying to cause the ambulance to hit his vehicle.
The paramedic called 9-1-1, and Edinburg Police began escorting the ambulance to Edinburg Regional Hospital.
But, when they arrived at the intersection of Sugar and Trenton, the driver of the Impala hit the ambulance from the front and the back injuring a paramedic inside.
Hidalgo County Sheriff's are still gathering information on the case.
The paramedic company will not release any information regarding the patient's age or why the person was being transported.
Action 4 News was on the scene at the time and did hear scanner chatter regarding the case.
