Driver in Brownsville hit-and-run accident is found, charged with two felonies
The driver in a Brownsville hit-and-run accident who fled the scene on foot is later found by police.
At approximately 8:10 p.m. Thursday, officers arrived at the 4000 Block of Boca Chica Blvd. regarding a motor vehicle accident involving a death, according to a news release.
The driver of a white Ford F150, later identified as 23-year-old Marving Andres Resendiz Zumaya, drove against traffic and struck a Ford Ranger driven by a 79-year-old male. A third vehicle struck the Ford Ranger from behind; the driver of the Ford Ranger was pronounced dead on the scene.
Zumaya fled the scene on foot and was later found by police, according to the news release.
The driver of the third vehicle was treated by medical professionals for non-life threatening injuries.
Zumaya was charged with criminal negligent homicide, a state jail felony; and accident involving death, a second-degree felony.
Zumaya couldn’t be reached for comment.
