Drowning victim identified as former UTB soccer player
The family and friends of a former UTB soccer player are in mourning.
South Padre Island officials confirmed 27-year-old Ousainou Senghore drowned on Thursday.
Known as just "Ous" to his friends, Senghore was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico at a beach next to Clayton's Beach Bar & Grill.
Senghore went under and could not be found.
Rescuers later found his body.
Cameron County Justice of the Peace Bennie Ochoa ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
According to Facebook, Senghore was from the West African nation of Gambia but attended the University of Texas at Brownsville.
Senghore played for the school's soccer team and received his degree in December.
Many friends and family members were leaving their condolences on his Facebook page.
