Authorities took down an alleged curbside drug dealer who lived just down the street from the San Juan basilica.
San Juan police arrested 49-year-old Gilberto Garza at a home off the 200 block of East 2nd Street around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators with Operation Curbside had been conducting surveillance on the home.
A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter was at the scene of the bust, which involved multiple law enforcement agencies.
They said they had already arrested Garza on similar charges once before in 2007.
This time, they recovered several baggies of cocaine and loads of cash.
The home is three blocks away from the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle.
San Juan Police Rolando Garcia spoke to Action 4 News about the case.
"They would approach the front gate, some would stay at the front gate and they would walk out -- and purchase what they were gonna purchase, Garcia said.
Garcia said San Juan police are increasing their efforts to catch alleged curbside drug dealers before they become an even bigger menace to the community.
