DSHS Encourages You to Speak Your Mind

Experts are delving deeper into how mental illness may play a role in tragic occurrences, like mass shootings. Turns out, it's a life-long problem with over half of cases diagnosed before the age of 14. Another 25% are found before the age of 24, with suicide the third leading cause of death in the age group. The Department of State Health Services wants to make a difference. They're rolling out the "Speak Your Mind" campaign, which provides people with a platform to obtain information about mental illness. It also gives them resources and access to service providers like counselors to help battle their issues. Mauro Ruiz explained what their goals are and how they hope to accomplish them on Sunrise.
