Two men faced burglary and evading arrest charges after breaking into an elderly man TMs home and attempting to escape from law enforcement officers.
Harlingen police responded to a home burglary on March 18 where a 75-year-old man said suspects broke into his house through a utility room window.
Suspects, Jeremy Ryan Hazelwood and Rodney Cruz, threatened him with a knife.
The victim said they did not stab him, but making motions with the weapon towards his abdomen area.
The 23-year-old and 20-year-old stole $200 from the elderly man and fled.
Investigators issued warrants after they discovered the identity of the two men.
Two days later, Hazelwood and Cruz were passengers in a Ford Mustang that was stopped for a traffic violation.
Everyone inside the car fled on foot.
Officers searched the surrounding area but could not find the men.
Harlingen police stopped another vehicle that Hazelwood was a passenger in on March 22.
Officers questioned and released the driver of that car and arrested Hazelwood.
The next day, Harlingen PD spotted Cruz walking on W. Jackson Ave and placed him under arrest.
Both men face burglary of habitation charges and evading arrest charges.
