DWI charges expected after driver slams into utility pole

A woman is currently in custody after she was allegedly driving drunk, causing a single vehicle accident that left her and a man in the hospital.

The crash happened on the 400 block of S. Jackson Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday as the woman was driving northbound with a male passenger in the vehicle.

Edinburg police told Action 4 News that the woman veered off the road and slammed the gray Ford pickup truck into a utility pole.

The Edinburg Police Department and EMS responded to the scene of the accident.

EMS rushed the woman and male passenger to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Authorities said the woman has been released form the hospital, and is currently in custody.

An arraignment is expected to be held early this upcoming week.
