DWI suspect causes traffic jam in Whataburger parking lot

A Harlingen man was arrested at the Whataburger on Harrison Avenue after he was caught drinking and driving.

Leo Leal was taken into custody on Friday night in the restaurant TMs parking lot after he failed to pass a field sobriety test.

A concerned citizen called authorities to report Leal TMs reckless driving, according to Harlingen Police.

The caller said Leal was driving with his headlights off and his driver TMs door open.

Leal drove his car to the Whataburger restaurant and parked in the middle of the parking lot, disrupting the flow of the drive-thru traffic.

A criminal check showed the 41-year-old had prior DWI arrests.

Leal TMs DWI charge was enhance to a 3rd degree felony and his bond was set at $10,000.
