DWI suspect tries to flee from state troopers in mother's car

A DWI suspect is facing several criminal charges after he allegedly tried to flee from state troopers in his mom TMs car.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers arrested Justin Allen Lawson early Thursday morning.

State troopers pulled over the 23-year-old McAllen man for DWI off Trenton and Tower Roads around 4:45 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Lawson had gotten into a single-vehicle accident.

State troopers reported that Lawson TMs mother arrived at the scene in a second vehicle.

Lawson allegedly grabbed his mother TMs car keys and tried to flee in her car.

State troopers reported that Lawson ended up reversing his mother TMs car into a nearby ditch and got stuck.

Investigators charged Lawson with DWI, evading arrest and escape.

Court records show that Lawson has a previous criminal history that includes assault, harassment of a public servant, assault of a public servant and evading arrest.
