DWI wreck suspect flees the scene, tasered by Harlingen police

A San Benito man who allegedly fled the scene of a DWI wreck is behind bars after getting tasered by police.

Harlingen police arrested 34-year-old Noe Zepeda on multiple charges Saturday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Zepeda was behind the wheel of a blue Ford Focus.

The Ford Focus allegedly hit a Chevrolet Astro van off South F Street and West Tyler Avenue around 2:10 p.m. Saturday.

One woman in the van was injured but did not want to be taken to the hospital.

Zepeda fled the scene in his car but officers stopped him off South Commerce Street and West Buchanan Avenue.

According to reports, Zepeda appeared intoxicated, spit on an officer and struggled with police trying to put him inside a squad car.

Investigators told Action 4 News that an officer used his taser on Zepeda to get him under control.

Police charged Zepeda with intoxication assault, accident involving injury, harassment of a public servant and resisting arrest.

Zepeda appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Sunday morning where he was issued $100,000 dollars in bonds.
