Weslaco police say a 36 year-old man stabbed a man twice in the chest and once in the back this morning just after 4 a.m.
Ramiro Garza told police he was outside his home at the 100 block of West First street when he neighbor invited him to his porch to smoke marijuana.
He claims an unknown man who was there at the time grabbed him behind .
Garza pulled out his knife and stabbed Rolando Loera twice in the chest.
Garza told policehe chased Loera who ran from him and stabbed him again in his back.
Garza called police to the scene.
Police say Loera was found at the intersection of Cedro and Agostradero and was transported to Knapp Medical in serious condition.
Neighbors tell Action 4 News that Garza recently moved to the area.
They say the dispute started after someone stole his wallet days ago.
The neighbor said Garza accused several people of stealing his property and attacked Loera.
Weslaco Police are investigating the incident.
Police say Loera possibly has a punchered lung but is now in stable condition.
Garza is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
His bond is set at $10,000.
