A family in Pharr gets an early morning surprise as a mother delivers a newborn baby girl right in the middle of their living room.
Nancy Andrade, who delivered her sister TMs baby, said it all happened so fast.
"I just heard someone screaming it was my sister, she said 'Mom, my water broke."
It was around 4:30 Wednesday morning when Nancy's 25-year-old sister Maria went into labor right in the family's living room.
Maria was past eight months, but just one day shy of being 39 weeks pregnant.
Nancy immediately dialed 911 and tried her best to keep her sister calm.
"They were going to send an ambulance on the way over here so meanwhile, the guy on dispatch said, 'When the baby comes out.." and in my head, I was like ' Oh my God the baby is going to come out. TM
Within minutes Nancy said her older sister Maria gave birth to a little baby girl, they've affectionately named Kaitlyn.
Nancy told Action4 News she asked her older sister if she could be by her side in the delivery room, but an at home birth was definitely not what she or her family was expecting.
"Ever since we found out she was pregnant and she was like, 'I think you could be there,' I didn TMt know it would be like that, I didn't know I would deliver her baby."
Kaitlyn was officially born at 4:36 Wednesday morning.
The baby girl and her mother are still in the hospital as she was born prematurely.
