Easy cooking with your kiddos during summer break

Summer is now officially half-way over, but that doesn't mean parents aren't looking to the next school year.

Every day is a struggle to make sure your child has the nutrition they need.

But you don't have to sacrifice time, energy, taste, or calories to accomplish this!

Chef Cel Galindo with Gourmet Central in Brownsville stopped by Sunrise.

She introduced viewers to some great recipes that are healthy and simple that they could make with their kids at home.

Carrot & Peanut Butter Chocolate DipIngredients: 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup fat free cream cheese6 tablespoons chocolate syrup 1/4 cup cooked carrots 1/2 teaspoon saltFruit or veggies for dipping

Puree carrots in processor. Once smooth, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Serve with vegetable sticks and fresh sliced fruit.

Frozen Fruit & Yogurt PopsIngredients:2 cups vanilla low fat yogurt2 cups your children's favorite fruit eg. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, kiwi etc. 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar or 1/3 cup honey, agave, or Splenda granules.

Combine the yogurt, fruit, and your choice of sweetener in a blender or food processor and process until smooth. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze.
