Edcouch police uncover stash house

Homemade spikes the suspect used

Edcouch police told Action 4 News they attempted to pull over Edgar Ramos for a speeding violation.

They said Ramos did pull over"but sped off as soon as the officer stepped out of his vehicle.

This all happened Saturday afternoon.

Chief Eloy Cardenas said Ramos started to throw homemade spikes at his officers vehicle.

The officer was not injured and as soon as they caught up to Ramos police found him carrying nine illegal immigrants.

Those immigrants soon led Edcouch to a stash house just minutes from the city.

"I've seen dogs live better than these people. It was very hot and there was no plumbing or A.C. It was just bad--really bad, Cardenas said.

Cardenas would not disclose the location of that stash house---he said the investigation is far from over.

Ramos is an illegal immigrant and will face an Edcouch judge sometime Tuesday.
