Edinburg building new arena for Vipers will bring new jobs

Edinburg will be the new home to the RGV Vipers

The City of Edinburg announced that a new, privately funded event arena will be the home of the RGV Vipers and will bring 150 new jobs.

The new $50 million dollar event arena will be built just off I-69 and Alberta Road before the end of the month.

The venue is expected to add 150 new jobs and bring more than $45 million dollars into the local economy annually.

Hotels, restaurants and other retail outlets will be on the same site as the 8,500 seat arena.

Mayor Garcia told Action 4 News that the 40 acre site will become the destination city,

"As you grow, culture becomes important. Quality of life, culture, entertainment We have boundless opportunity to grow north," said Mayor Garcia.

More announcements for the event arena will be made before the end of this year.
