A 65-year-old man has been indicted on 15 counts of child pornography including possession of material that depicted children performing sexual acts.

A Hidalgo County grand jury indicted Gregg Barthelman, who was booked into the county jail, after he appeared in the 206th State District Court on Friday, June 27th.

The 15 child pornography counts stem from possession of visual material of groups of male children engaging in sexual acts and visual material of girls.

He was booked in jail on 14 counts of possession of child pornography and one charge of possession with intent to promote child pornography.

Records show Barthelman is a certified teacher in the State of Texas, but it is not clear if he was working at the time of the indictment.

The 65-year-old is set to appear in court on August 27th for a hearing.

He has been ordered to turn over his passport and wear a GPS monitor.

The Edinburg man TMs bond was set at $150,000 for the charges.

Another grand jury also indicted Barthelman on another child pornography case back in March.

Subpoenas were issued in the case for records from Monte Alto ISD, La Joya ISD, Edinburg CISD and Donna ISD.

Action 4 News reached out to the Texas Education Agency (TEA), but the agency is unable to confirm where the educator last taught.

Calls to his defense attorney Fernando Macias have not yet been returned.
