Edinburg parents welcome quintuplets

Cesar and Crystal Tamez

An Edinburg couple welcomed five newborn babies into the world on May 25.

Crystal and Cesar Tamez had been trying to have children for the past six years and were finally able to have their wish come true.

We went to see doctors, tried fertility medication, but nothing would work, Cesar said. Finally my wife was able to get pregnant, and here we are with five babies.

The couple thanks the teamwork of Edinburg TMs Dr. Rodolfo Lozano and Corpus Christi TMs Maternal Fetal Medicine physician Dr. Ryan Loftin.

Crystal gave birth to two boys and three girls at the Bay Area Medical Center in Corpus Christi.

Cesar said Aden Caesar, Caleb Hunter, Bianca Hope, Madelynn Love and Chloe Faith were all born within four minutes.

Their mother, who delivered the babies by c-section, has since been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating.

The family says they had the babies in Corpus Christi so Dr. Loftin could keep a close eye on Crystal as she approached delivery.

The babies weights ranged from 2 lb. 7 oz to 1 lb 5 oz., but are all reported to be in good condition.

They are tiny, but doing good, Cesar said. The doctors say that they are doing a lot better than expected because my wife was able to get past 27 weeks.

The babies are expected to stay at the hospital until September, according to Cesar.

When asked if they have any advice for parents trying to have children Cesar said, Keep trusting in God. Never lose the faith, never lose hope and just keep going.

The family is welcoming any and all baby items.
