Edinburg sexual abuse suspect returns from Mexico to surrender

Sexual abuse suspect Angel Samperio faces a judge

An Edinburg man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing two girls over the past seven years.

Edinburg police have filed multiple criminal charges against 60-year-old Angel Samperio.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the two girls made an outcry of sexual abuse back on October 7th.

The girls told police that they had been abused by Samperio since 2006.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but the 60-year-old man had access to the girls through their families.

Police said Samperio, who is a Mexican national, learned about the investigation and fled to Mexico.

Texas Rangers convinced him to return voluntarily on Monday night in Laredo.

Samperio spent the night in the Webb County Jail but is expected to be arraigned at the Edinburg Municipal Court at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Edinburg man is facing two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts of continuous sexual abuse and one count of prohibited sexual contact.
