A man accused of shooting his ex-wife's boyfriend has been charged at his hospital bed.
Jose Vega is accused of shooting Juan Rivera and beating his ex-wife with a gun last week.
Vega fled the scene and went to his home in Pharr where he allegedly turned the gun on himself.
Rivera remains on life support in a local hospital where doctors have given him a 50% chance of survival.
Vega also remains hospitalized but is listed in stable condition.
Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace Bobby Contreras arraigned the 53-year-old shooting suspect at his hospital bed on Wednesday.
Judge Contreras issued a $500,000 bond.
Vega is under 24-hour guard and will be transferred to the Hidalgo County Jail upon his release from the hospital.
