Education leader remembered

A prominent Harlingen educator passed away on Sunday afternoon.
Lee H. Means was a teacher and a principal for over fifty years in the Harlingen School District.
Her service inlcudes Long Elementary and Wilson Elementary.
She also had an elementary school named in her honor, Lee Means Elementary.
Close friends say she is one of the longest educators in the district whose passion was educating the community.
Lee was involved in the Harlingen Literacy Center, the Boys and Girls Club and the Retired Teachers Association.
She was one of the first women to become a Rotarian in Harlingen.
She is survived by her children Laura, Mark and her grandchildren Amber, Tylee and Aba.
Visitation will be from 12:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on 710 N Ed Carey Dr.
The family will be present from 3:00-6:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be at the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen on Thursday.
The service will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the Raimond Christian Center.
