Elderly man charged for fast food road rage in Harlingen

      An elderly man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly let his temper get the best of him during a road rage incident.

      Harlingen police arrested 76-year-old Ralph Ladd on an aggravated assault charge on Monday.

      Investigators told Action 4 News that Ladd was driving his pickup outside a Wendy's restaurant on Dixieland Road.

      A woman said she was trying to pull out of the parking lot but Ladd wouldn't get out of her way when a nearby stoplight turned green.

      The woman told police that she honked her horn but Ladd responded by pulling out a semi-automatic handgun.

      According to police, the woman put her car in reverse and fled fearing for life but called police.

      Officers were able to locate Ladd and arrest him.

      The 76-year-old man appeared before a Harlingen Municipal Court judge where he was issued a $50,000 bond.
