Election Administrator announces resignation

Action 4 News has confirmed Cameron County Election Administrator has submitted his letter of resignation.
It TMs dated November 1st, but we received it on November 2nd Cameron County Judge Carlos Casos said.
According to the County Judge, Roger Ortiz had been talking about his departure for several months, and agreed to stay on until the general election was over.
Ortiz TMs last day with the county will be January 7, 2013.
In his resignation he cites, he must turn his attention to his family and himself .
Action 4 News tired contacting Ortiz for comment, but he was not available.
Casos said Ortiz has worked for the county for 14 years, and has led the election TMs department for about a decade.
Cameron County Judge Carlos Casos is also the Chairman of the Election Commission.
He says the next step is to hold a meeting and start establishing the ground rules for the hiring process.
The Commission anticipates having a replacement before Mr. Ortiz's final departure day of January 7, 2013.
