A South Padre Island Judge has increase the bond for a 33-year-old San Antonio man arrested for stabbing a spring breaker nine times.
The family of Derek Madrigal the spring breaker attacked on South Padre Island continues fighting for his life.
In an exclusive interview Thursday on Action 4 Sunrise Derek's father, Frank Madrigal, said his son is doing better everyday and is in high spirits.
"Derek suffered a few setbacks" said Derek's father, Frank Madrigal.
He also talked about the charges against his son's attacker, a San Antonio man, who he wants to see behind bars with the stiffest penalties.
Right now, the charge stands at aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Wednesday, investigators advised Judge David K. Colwell that Michael Rangel, 33, would potentially be a flight risk.
Rangel's bond was raised from $20,000 to $100,000 due to the serious nature of the offense.
