End-of-the-year prank lands 8 Porter High School students in jail

An end-of-the-year prank landed eight Porter High School students in the Brownsville City Jail early Thursday morning.

Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) police officers arrested the students on criminal mischief and criminal trespassing charges.

The following eight students were booked into the Brownsville City Jail around 4:30 a.m. Thursday:

Samuel Ivan Martinez Roberto Vidal Miguel Zamora Hugo Dante Salinas Humberto Valdez Josue Garcia Miguel Torres Francisco Santillan

BISD officials told Action 4 News that that the eight teens were involved in an end-of the year prank at the school around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

The eight students threw toilet paper on trees behind the school and used shoe polish to write Porter Rocks, Seniors and Class of 2011 on the windows.

A passerby saw the students and called police.

All of the charges are Class C misdemeanors, each punishable up to a $500 dollar fine.

Today is the last day of classes for all BISD schools.

It TMs not clear if or how the prank will affect the participation of the eight students in Porter High School graduation ceremony.
