Falling asleep at Taco Bell drive-thru leads to criminal charge

A woman was arrested after being accused of driving while intoxicated (DWI) when she fell asleep at a local Taco Bell drive-thru.

The alleged crime happened at a Taco Bell located on the 400 block of Dixieland Road in Harlingen.

Rose Isabel Lopez sell asleep while in the drive-thru line and left her car running, Harlingen police said.

Harlingen police arrived at the location and found Lopez asleep in the driver TMs seat.

Authorities then woke her up and found her car was left in neutral.

It was determined that Rose Lopez was under the influence of alcohol, according to the Harlingen Police Department TMs press release.

The incident happened on Friday, Aug. 29 around 1:58 in the morning.

Lopez was then transported to the city jail in Harlingen where she was booked on the DWI charge around 2:48 am.

The 48-year-old Channel View woman is behind bars on a $3,500 bond.
