A portion of Loop 499 in Harlingen was temporarily shut down following two Thursday morning accidents, including a fatality.
Harlingen Police have confirmed the victim is Elida Briseno, 31, of Harlingen.
According to new reports, she was not a jogger.
The 31-year-old woman was walking on a crosswalk at the intersection of Breedlove and Loop 499 around 7:32 a.m. Thursday when she was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of a black Saturn Ion did stop, but no charges have been filed.
She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities also worked another unrelated accident at the intersection of New Combes Highway and Loop 499.
Both accidents shut down a portion of Loop 499 from New Combes Highway to Breedlove Road for more than an hour.
Both remain under invetigation.
